Legit all the kids being stupid like running air crack or DDOSing their schools wifi you are stupid. My friends and I just kindly asked for help from one of the IT guys and we are legit friends now. He says what's up to me in the hallway and when we needed a CD he gave us 6 DVDs. When we asked for a windows 7 key he gave us 3 and 2 120gb crucial SSDs for it. Then he gave us a 10gigabit switch for our cluster computers. He is amazing and the coolest dude. When some other guy was in there we asked for a mouse and he said we don't just give away stuff GET OUT! He was old the other dude was young. So if you hate your wifi rules or some technology rules become friends with your enemies. Great things follow.

Yea our IT guy told me and my friend to come down and have lunch the other day, we trade computer parts all the time and I just got a GTX 260 from him :D

I have similiar experience with my company's IT.  I act as my departments IT person fixing the very common and easy problems, which is a daily occurrence which takes the pressure off the IT department as we are the largest department at our location.

 

 

Mysteriously my computer has gotten admin privileges as well as the data cap on my e-mail raised.

My high school shares its it team with 12 other high schools, and 14 elementary schools. This means that the it guys only show up once for two days every other month. The two younger guys are nice, but are not really that smart. The older guy is a bitch, but a duckking genius. He actually went into our cnc plasma cutter, and re programesd the late 90's machine and companion software to work on usb instead of its custom serial bus.

We did do some ahitty stuff too. One of my friends who is now in software engineering, used to modify the school WiFi networks to give our phones and laptops 100/100 speeds compared to the 2/2 norm. We would also ddos the schools web filter server untill it crashed by using all the library computers. The server required a physical restart, so we had freedom intill the next it visit.

The funny thing was, that nobody really cared that we took down the server every month. We never got punished, and I think some teachers enjoyed being able to show youtube videos without having to log on and go though the laggy filter unblock.

My uni's IT dept is staffed mainly by CS students who're all half retarded and wreck the wi-fi like crazy and can't manage the computer lab if their life depended on it. Half the computers are always down and they failed miserably at converting all the computers to windows 10.
