Hi all, I've been having trouble with GeForce Experience displaying an error message when I try to optimize games. It'll pull up the recommended optimized settings but won't change them for me for any games, it just pops up with aessage that reads, "unable to apply optimal settings" and no reason.

This problem started before I upgraded to Windows 10, but I made sure to set GeForce experience as administrator anyway. I've read lots of threads about this but can't seem to find a solution that actually works.

I've had GeForce cards all my life but this is tempting me to go over to AMD for a new card. There's just no perks anymore. Suggestions?

set the settings yourself. Software optimizations are always going to be worse than you picking your settings.

As for a new GPU - a R9 390 if you want a 1080p powerhouse (it can handle 1440p fine as well) or a R9 380 if you're happy with high settings but not ultra 60 fps in all games :)

Geforce game optimization is probably one of my least valued reasons to go nvidia...

I guess it useful for people that don't want to bother much with the settings, but it always does stupid things on my system like turning down the textures and increasing the AA.

Tried doing a fresh driver install? (think it reinstall geforce experience as well)

Did you run the game first? You have to start the game before it can do that.

I don't recommend using GFE to choose your settings for you though.

well linus recommends it...

LMG also did a video comparing x99 and z170 without even considering or MENTIONING overclocking... They aren't always right.

so...?

the point of the video was to compare stock CPUs...

overclocking will be different for every person so comparing two completely different CPUs by overclocking them would give non-standard results

The point is that if you buy x99 and are not willing to overclock you are both a dumbass and a utter waste.

There are many many ways they could have worked around it. Basically single new 5820k is capable of 4.4 at 1.3V, just as basically all skylake cpu's are capable of 4.6. The issue is that corresponds to nearly a 40% OC on x99 compared to a 10% OC on the other.

Even if they did mild overclocking bringing the 5820k to 4.0-4.2 and the 6700k to 4.4 or so would have been a much more useful and informative video (stock to stock is completely worthless. Nay it is worse than worthless because it gives an impression opposite to the truth) and every single cpu could hit that without exception.

I have other issues with that video that I have mentioned in other threads. BTW I don't think people should buy x99 for gaming, but skylake i7 is literally less for your money in EVERY POSSIBLE WAY.

Did he really? Lol.

yeah he said it sets his games to very close what he would actually do himself irl, and its convenient when he just wants to quickly play a new game without having the mess with the settings for a long time because it just works

he gets good performance and good looks pretty well balanced when he uses it

Doesn't ever work properly for me.

It would try to turn on one of the advanced settings in GTA:5 last time I tried it to see what it would do - the long shadows option or whatever - which made my fps a slideshow, just for example.
