lubuntu install help

Go to solution Solved by manikyath,

might be an issue related to their specific means of storage.

you could tinker around with bios settings a bit.

other than that, could try an arch based distro, and see how that goes. (arch is more cutting edge, which has some advantages, but also some downsides. worth a try i guess)

hey guys,

so i'm working on a little project, and i'm trying to install lubuntu on an HP Mini 1030NR.

I grabbed the 32-bit version off their website, burned it to a flash drive, and booted to it.

After I hit the install lubuntu button, the screen turns off but the computer stays on. I've tried a few different distro's and none of them seem to work. Right before it fails, the screen always says "ACPI PROBE FAILED"

BUT, if I pop in a windows install disk, it works fine.

anybody know whats going on?

Thanks,

TheMastr13

You know that guy that games on a MacBook? I'm that guy.

Primary: Lenovo T61 / Intel Core2Duo T7200 @ 2.2GHz / 3GB DDR2 / NVIDIA Quadro NVS 140M / Fedora 22 <<<< THE WHITE KNIGHT

Secondary: Compaq Presario CQ56 / AMD V130 @ 2.3GHz / 2GB DDR3 / AMD Radeon HD 4250 / Windows 8.1 <<< THE FORGOTTEN HERO

actually, no. Intel graphics media accelerator 950

Hmmmm....try resseting your motherboard settings to default.

The problem here is that Ubuntu installations use a old version of Linux with outdated drivers.

Are you switching from a Windows system? If so, welcome to the club!

nah, i cant switch completely away from windows due to autodesk inventor still not being supported by anything other than windows (makes me super mad.)

and honestly, I would switch to mac before i would switch to windows.

I'm using an old HP mini for a project (will show off later), and i need a free OS. So i'm trying to get a distro of linux runing on it.

BTW, manjaro isnt working
