If we're talking about price for performance, the 970 wins easily. For performance, the 980. Plus at this price range you should really be looking at AMD's offerings.

I would go for that

980 and 390X are very close so I usually just recommend whatever is the cheapest

BF4 120 fps? AMD using Mantle is quite a bit ahead in BF4

I cannot get a 390 without x but I don't know if the 780ti's 3gb are enough...

970 is slower than the 780 Ti and only has 0.5GB more - 3GB is fine - I've only maxed them in Skyrim - Witcher 3 1440p max uses 2.5GB.

Nah - 980 is not all that faster than a 780 Ti - hence why Nvidia actually nerfed Kepler a bit a while back - not sure how things are currently. 970 is utterly not worth it over a proper 780 Ti (which is a cut-down Titan Black IIRC)
