Are you open to Windows Phones? Or just android?

Android - Nexus 5X - $490 CAD 16GB/ $556 CAD 32GB

Windows Phone - Lumia 950 (bit more expensive if unlocked but very much worth it)  - On contract  32GB $259 CAD or Unlocked $711 CAD

Judge a product on its own merits AND the company that made it.

Oneplus 6 (Early 2023 to present) | HP Envy 15" x360 R7 5700U (Mid 2021 to present) | Steam Deck (Late 2022 to present)

I would agree with all the phones above. Coming from that phone, anything on that list will feel snappy and have a decent/good camera.

Main PC: i5 4590 @ 3.5 GHz ♦ RX 480 Armor OC ♦ 16 GB DDR3 ♦ GA-Z97-HD3 ♦ 120 GB 840 EVO ♦ 120 GB Intel 520 ♦ W10 Home

Scrapyard PC: Xeon X5460 @ 3.8 GHz ♦ HD 7870 ♦ 8 GB DDR2 ♦ GA-P35-DS3L ♦ 80 GB Intel 320 ♦ 160 GB WD Caviar SE ♦ W10 Home

What about LG G4?

- Screen = 5.5"

- Smooth Processor = Qualcomm Snapdragon 808

- 2GB RAM minimum = 3GB RAM

- Nice battery/battery life = 3,000 mAh but it is removable and can go for battery case from ZeroLemon 8,500 mAh. It does have an AMAZING standby battery life almost like iPhone and iPad.

- Sharp Camera = Can go up to 4K or you can change it to 1080p

- Micro SD Slot = Check

- Front Facing Camera with decent res = 8 MP 1080p

Now, I don't know how much it would cost at Canada but in US it is cheaper than flagship smartphone like Galaxy S6 or iPhone 6S.
