so I sold @TheDiamondPvP a PC which uses the Asrock X79 Extreme9 motherboard, which uses the Asrock Game Blaster.

He said that the microphone input was completely messed up, it sounded all digitized and distorted. I had the same problem when I owned mine on windows 10, but he is running windows 8.1 with the manufacturer's latest drivers. Since I have another motherboard and soundcard, I tried that soundcard. Same issue. It works fine with a Xonar soundcard.... thingy. Any ideas?

Soundcard driver support is bad, and there's not much you can do about it.

Doesnt make sense to me, considering the previous owner of these PCs had no issues and they had windows 8.

There's issues all the way back to win7. I personally couldn't get Xonar software to install, until one day it worked without me changing anything.

the Xonar soundcard is the one that WORKS. the one that came with the motherboard is the one having issues.

I realize this. Merely pointing out that driver support is bad for all manufacturers across OS's.

We try not to recommend soundcards here due to these reasons and more. His best bet is probably an external solution.

I think he was going to buy a USB microphone. I mean, other than the mic, the soundcard works perfectly fine.

I've noticed that mic inputs don't get near enough attention even on "high end" motherboards and soundcards.

Its a shame that this one does not work because it has a silly option for morphing voice which is "Amusing"
