I overclocked my gpu core (xfx r7 265 core edition) from 925 mhz to 1050 (msi afterburner limit) and set the power limit to 20%, then I went to another room for watching a tv program while my pc was loading the witcher 3 (eurogamer console settings) to the title screen, after 2 minutes I went back and there was black screen and a sound loop/buzzing, I pressed the reset bottom twice of my case and after 5 seconds my pc turn itself off and it turn itself up.

Well, since I didn't watch if the gpu got too hot and considering that this overclock wasn't on the high side, I was unsure if this OC was the culprit, so I decided to apply the same overclock and try to play again....., I played for 50 minutes with no problem whatsoever, later I played gta v (eurogamer console settings) for 1 hour with no instabilities, then ran 3dmark vantage in performace preset, saw a 10% increased, checked if the OC was applied, it was.

What do you guys think? was the overclock the culprit? or, was it a coincidence the game crashed my system after I applied the OC?

Until more issues persist we can't be sure. There is not enough evidence.

First off, don't max the fucking thing out on the first try. First, push it a little, then test it. If it passes a 5 minute furmark test, push it a bit more and repeat. If it crashes, add more voltage. Your OC is to blame for that if you max it out with no extra voltage

Make life rue the day it thought it could give Cave Johnson lemons! Do you know who I am? I’m the man who’s gonna burn your house down! With the lemons! I’m gonna get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!”
