hello at the moment I have an i7 4790k CPU, a MSI Z97S sli krait edition motherboard, Graphite Series 760T case and for my air cooler I just have my stock cooler. Here is my CPU temp http://imgur.com/V0DHwK1 they range about 70-40 when I play league of legends but I am scared it might go above 80 when I play games like Assassins creed unity, Batman Arkham Knight, Dragon Age inquisition. I will never OC and I am planning to get a Coolermaster 212 Evo or should i start going to water cooling? I am not very experienced with water cooling but I can have a local computer shop to do it for me. What are safe temperatures for my CPU? What cooling do you guys suggest? Thank you for the help and sorry if I didn't format right I am new to the forums!

Those are reasonable temps to get with the stock cooler and don't worry you won't damage it just by gaming. Even the most intense games won't pin it to 100% all the time, and even if you did do something like that, the stock cooler is sufficient (they wouldn't sell it if it wasn't).

That said, I would also recommend an after market solution, but before you go spending on 100 or 200 dollar water cooling options, consider a 30 or 40 dollar air cooler that will drop your temps by at least 20 degrees and will be fine unless you are doing large overclocks.

I assume the 40 is idle

well the picture he linked doesn't tell me shit

Technically speaking, true, but I recognized the application it's a shot of and the columns from left to right are current, lowest, and highest, so...

in his defense, the 4790 is actually clocked lower than the 4790k, even when both are at stock

hello thanks for the help. I will just go on with getting a 212 Evo.

I don't have first hand experience with that specific cooler, but I have a similar solution: I'm using the CNPS9900MAX-b from Zalman (I think it was like $25 with the rebate) and it brought my temps from pretty much what your'e seeing down to only rarely touching 50 C while under full load, so you should be good.

212EVO is what I'm using and you'll notice a difference with temps and sound. Plus it gives you hardware if you want another fan. Just becareful when taking the fan off the cooler.. Learn it the hard way. lol and of course, I'm using different CPU then you, tho.
