The only Asus 1150 board with an internal IO shield and a black red colour scheme I can think of is the Maximus VII Formula.

However it's the opposite of cheap.

Edit:

The MSI Z97 Gaming 9 AC, Gaming 9 ACK, and Z97A Gaming 9 ACK also have them and that colour scheme. Again though these aren't cheap at all.

That's me proven wrong. Well done for reading the Asus promo page.

I had visions of the OP trying to get an IO shield to go around the motherboard headers at first, and was like "What?"

Certain manufacturers section off the IO area for aesthetic reasons.

If you look at another Asus board - the X99 Deluxe - you'll see it also has a section covering the IO ports. However since it's not part of the RoG or TUF brands it's not named 'Thermal Armour'.

This doesn't stop it from being a piece of plastic covering the IO ports from the motherboard side.

This is what the OP is referring to. Whether it has thermal protection properties or not is irrelevant.
