Bad ram slot?

Go to solution Solved by TheRandomness,

so what are my options? if i contacted Gigabyte, would they replace my board?

or is there some possible self DIY fix?

RMA it, I've never heard of anyone repairing a dead RAM slot via unsoldering and such

i have 4 sticks of ddr2 400 2G RAM, all tested and confirmed working
but for some reason, when all 4 sticks are plugged in, my PC won't boot, gives me a long beep followed by a short beep, it won't even post, just black screen

i've tested all different possible combinations and narrowed it down to my slot #2
for some unknown reason, if a ram is installed on slot 2, it won't boot
is it possible that the slot if faulty or something? or is there some kind of setting i'm not setting right?

PS: why does it feel like it takes longer to boot when i have more ram installed?

sounds like a faulty slot to me
