gtx 980 ti reference coilwhile only on 300+ fps?

Xyrock

Hi! i noticed this on my card and not sure if its good or bad.

whenever my card gets more than 300 fps reading on any game it start to whine noticably.

At first i didnt know what coilwhine was at all, but now i know a little.

so my question here is. Is my card ok on the coilwhine side? or just standard or worse.

also. i will be OCing the card next tuesday when i get the evga hybrid kit. lets hope that i get good numbers.

EDIT:

not sure if it will coilwhine under 100% load but i did recall to hear something when playing witcher 3.

LOCK YOUR FRAMERATE!!!

TURN UP YOUR SETTINGS!

If you have higher Framerate than the Hz of your display you get tearing. (If your case, you may have 5 different frames in one assuming your display is a 60Hz display)

With any card you have to lock the fps because in game menus tend to cause coil whine on cards.

Are you playing at 1080p?

mhm. i may upgrade my monitor to a higher one next year

ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?

Seriously, there's no display out there that has that refresh rate and (sounding like a console gamer now) you wouldn't even see a remote difference between this and 144Hz I think. Just turn up all the settings and/or V-Sync or limit your FPS to give your poor card a break...

You probably shouldn't be playing minesweeper on low setting, especially with a 980

I dont even have a 980 :( 560 Ti but the heaven benchmark ending screen will make it go over 3000, I wonder if it will do the same when I get my 780 Ti

Coil whine usually happens if the FPS is way too high (especially on menu screen). Just lower or cap your fps.

Your profile says you have a "GTX 980 G1 GAMING / Intel HD Graphics 2000"
