GTX 760 vs 950

Are they the same thing? Or different architecture? If so, is the improvement enough to go with a 950?

I'm looking at getting a 760 for $110 on eBay.

Asking questions is fine. The 950 has a more modern architecture and will perform better. Not by a lot, but it will be better.

760 is Keplar. 950 is Maxwell. Other than power consumption they will perform similarly under most cases. A good 950 (well binned) can overclock to Gtx 960 performance so keep that in mind.

Bit of an AMD fan I suppose. I don't bias my replies to anything however, I just prefer AMD and their products. Buy whatever the H*CK you want.

The 760 is based on the older Kepler architecture while the 960 is based on the newer Maxwell architecture that delivers much better performance per watt.

950 is, at most, barely faster

It's like 2 houses, they look the same. But the older house is less safe (less performance) than the newer house which has better architecture and is safer (better performance). Would you take the newer and better house that is slightly more expensive or take the less safe and cheaper house?

I would get the 760, it's about as fast as a 960 without having to oc to do it whereas a 950 is only close to a 960 once it's overclocked and there's no guarantee you will get a good one. Unless you have to have the newest stuff or have a sub 400w or shit PSU the 760 is a better buy imo.
