Mods I made this post previously, could you please take that one down since no one could help me?  Thank you.  Ok right now my brother is letting me use his account 'cause I'm at his house.  So I am entering a science fair and I'm going to do a raspberry pi project.  I will be making a custom rack mount file server to mimic a 4U case and I'l be making a touch screen Raspberry Pi for the traveler, with an internal power bank, a solar charger, I may add a case that integrates a keyboard.  I'll add more along the way here is a link to the parts I will be using.  Please tell me if I need more parts, how many volts I will need because I'm beginning to think 5 volts won't be enough.  I will be integrating a USB hub into the mini server so I can attach my USB to SATA since the Pi doesn't have SATA ports and it has only a few USB ports.  Also I need an OS so I'm just gonna put it on a 128 GB SD card which will also be my primary storage.

OS: FreeNAS?

Also, I don't think a Pi will be good for your intended purpose... try something bigger?

Edit:
This should help

That's what I was thinking, and no I can't do something bigger, these are Pi projects to show you the functionality of that mini form factor

See earlier post on x300 RPi expansion board...

As for a touch-screen interface, you'll need to use a module for it iirc (I looked into this before)... (Like this: https://www.sparkfun.com/products/11742)

the easy way is getting a screen with a USB interface that works with Android out of the box (see Android documentation)...

So like the AOC portable screen if I wanted a laptop config instead of a touch config?

yup... but there could be driver issues since you'll be working with Linux here... worst case is that there are no drivers for Linux...

I'm thinking about getting Raspbien and putting it on a 128Gb SD Card which will be my primary storage as well as storage for my OS.  Would the SD Card work or do I need an SSD?

SNIP

Sick project bro. I think an SD Card will work, it's just that it'll be slower. Nothing else. Format it in NTFS though if it's already not.

SD card is fine for your OS drive... but for the storage, try going with external HDDs since the Pi does not have SATA natively...

This guide should help you...

Edit: also, note the SD card speed recommendations... (Class 10 cards or better iirc)

No the laptop will be full sized lol.  I actually had a new idea!  A modular pi system!  I can make a dual Pi or Tri Pi cluster server and I'll make it so that it's like a hot swappable type thing.  Then the lap top will have a little locking slider on the side so I can attach all of my components to the board just by sliding it in.  Just slide and pop it in then it is done!  So you can have a cluster server, then you can bring a pi with you on the go and still access the server.  I hope they have PuTTY for Raspbian!!  Btw the components on the laptop will be super glued into place so you just plug in and done!
