Best CPU benchmark software

What are the best programs to test CPU speed for real-world performance?

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

CineBench, PCMark, and I think 3Dmark Vantage gives you a CPU score aswell

BUT WHAT DO THOSE SCORES MEAN?!  :P

They're a reference point so you can easily compare them online

I know they are comparison points but a lot of people don't use them such as myself and wouldn't know that a 3DMARK score of 5726 means a 2600k at 5GHz and a GTX 580. BUT at the same time there ARE those people that will be like "hey that's a really good score".

cinebench is partial to intel, so I wouldn't use that, doesn't give real scores, I would say 3Dmark11

I thought they fixed it in the new versions + there was a patch for the old ones.

What about ROG realbench. it uses real applications, so I feel that it is more relevant than synthetic benchmarks.

i7-3960X@4.4 GHz, H100i (W/ AP-15 Fans), R9 290X , 32GB DDR3 1866 MHz, Asus RIVE, CM HAF X

I have been looking forward to this benchmarking \ stress testing suite. gonna try it out.

i have been using cinebench lately as it is quick and efficient and fairly accurate in real world rendering representation.

since rendering is the hardest task my cpu typically performs.

Tried the realbench image editing benchmark and it is pretty nice. Keeps opening files in GIMP and applying soft glows and shadows and this benchmark seems more realistic imo because you can see it processing.
