So I've been looking at monitors today, and I'm kinda torn. I want the low refresh time, but I really love having the IPS for the colors. I am going to be playing some CSGO as well as other games, which is why I want the low response time. A lot of monitors are around 21-23 inches, have a 5ms and response time, and IPS. How much of a difference does the IPS make? Is it worth it for games like CSGO to have the 5ms repsonse time and IPS, or should I sacrifice the IPS and go for a lower response time like 4ms and below? Thank you for any recommendations, all help is appreciated.

the advertised response time is usually not actually the case, look at reviews for the monitors input lag as it will make the biggest difference. IPS is better for colors and viewing angles, TN and others typically look fine when you look straight at it, but colors get distorted when viewing off angle, but typically have higher refresh rates (144hz, etc.). Are you going to play some CSGO or is it you main objective? I play CSGO on an IPS screen and I really don't think I would see the difference (I used to have a TN panel with a lower refresh rate but I didn't play CSGO at the time). The enhanced quality of the colours I can see though.

A fair amount but not too much. It looks like the input lag of the monitor I wanted is 10ms, is that okay for CSGO?

My monitor has 8ms, and I don't notice it. But I am a very casual gamer, so if you are planning on playing compatitive then I wouldn't recommend it but if you use your PC for occasionally playing CSGO and the rest of the time for other games like rpg's and editing/working I'd say go for it.

If you are going for a purely gaming monitor, see if you can get something with a higher refresh rate as well (might as well go all the way if you find it important).

10ms input lag is really about as good as it gets, many (1ms, 5ms) monitors advertise that, but their input lag is around 20-30ms sometimes, so 10 is about as good as you will find.
