Help me Finish My PC

Go to solution Solved by CyberneticTitan,

5820k + X99 would offer the best performance.

Xeon 1231 V3 + H97 board would offer the best performance/price.

I would not recommend dumping a lot of money into the motherboard. Additionally, I'd recommend grabbing a WD Blue instead of the Barracuda.

So Ive been getting all my pc parts for the upgrades of my old components however im conflicted about CPU/MOBO Choices, here is what I have now (keep in mind some parts are reused such as my psu/cooler and new like the GPU) So im looking at an i7, for multi-tasking and rendering 10-30 min long videos somewhat often and I want to begin graphic design things such as artwork programs and things for the PC so i know that your basic i7 will handle that with ease in addition i will occasionally be streaming games and such, the more i look at motherboards the more i want the asus deluxe boards, I have  a LOT of 3.0 devices and 4 ports simply isnt enough and I use wifi as ethernet is not an option right now, so i'm staring at the 6700k and the 5820k which should i get Im not looking at the 4790 because the sabertooth boards is the only thing im interested in those chipsets but again 4 3.0 ports, so which cpu should i pick up when i look at cpu prices alone well the obvious choice is the 5820k however when i look at the motherboard prices of the deluxe for z170 the 6700k is pulling my tail. so which cpu should i grab with the deluxe board (x99 or z170)

i was going for a green color scheme so witht he white board LED strips would make things easy but ill take the cpu recommendation into consideration howver could you perhaps explain why, like would I actually make use of those extra 2 cores

I completely forgot about xeons ill look more into those and I have both drives from my original PC so thats like, non negotiable i have both of them already and the ssd and the mmoney being "dumped" into the motherboard is more of the features like if the board costs 200, its another 80 for the wifi card that comes with it and like another 40 for the better sound not that sound matters much but like the features are there to semi-back up the price

I have noticed plenty people recomending the 5820k over the 6700k but again would i actually make use of those cores?

Would depend on your program and rendering profile.

This is the 2nd pass where the actually encoding takes place for H.264. Multi-core dominates.

You got an MSI 980ti so I thought you were going for red/black.  THose 2 extra cores will help with rendering over the 4 cores on the 6700k.

yeah i should have specified and i will be painting the red completely my fault on not saying so, and im curious how big is the difference between the two in terms of performance for rendering and thigns like that
