Unstable connection using Wireless adapter.

so I have this USB wifi adapter that has worked fine for quite a while on other computers, but it will not work well on my main desktop. speeds go from 3mbps on a different PC to .2mbps on my desktop. It's not signal quality, as it works fine when booted into Linux, it's not the adapter because it woks in another PC, and on the desktop in linux, I have tried using every driver under the sun, including the one that came on a disk with the adapter, which is the one that is on the other machine.

I don't know what else to do. I tried using different USB ports, and it made a slight difference for about a day, and then it tanked again, and no matter what USB port I plug it into, It doesn't help.

here's a link to the adapter in question. http://www.amazon.com/TP-LINK-TL-WN725N-Wireless-Adapter-150Mbps/dp/B008IFXQFU/ref=sr_1_4?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1443492678&sr=1-4&keywords=wifi+adapter

Edit: also, Ethernet isn't an option, so please don't suggest it. ;)

Update: still having issues. anyone else have a suggestion? I've updated the BIOS, and it didn't help. it's not interference since the adapter works in the same exact spot under linux, and I get a perfect signal from my phone and from my laptop in the same spot.

Powerline won't work in my case because the location of the router and the location of my PC are on different panels outside. (it's complicated)

but it's not a signal or connection issue. it's an issue with drivers or something with windows or the Desktop itself. I could go buy a new wireless adapter for less than setting up power line...

well first..im gonna recommend you try some powerline adapters..much more reliable..when its an option..and much faster

as for the wireless...try the adapter in another pc and see if it works how its suppose to

it does. I said that in the OP. the adapter works in another PC with the same drivers, and the same PC in Linux, but it hasn't worked with Windows on this PC ever over 3 different reinstalls.

then its either a driver issue/bios issue

interference issue

or a port adapter problem

to be honest...it would be simpler most likely to just buy a new one

but don't bother..if you do need to buy something...try the powerline adapters

I'll buy a new adapter if necessary, but this is really bothering me, and want to solve the issue regardless.
