yes. though you don't build for overclocking, you overclock because you can.

Aftermarket 980Ti >= Fury X >= Reference 980Ti > Fury > 980 > 390X > 390 >= 970 > 380X > 380 >= 960 > 950 >= 370 > 750Ti = 360

Very light OCing but you generally want to pair up a unlocked CPU with a stymied OC MOBO.

A water-cooled mid-tier gaming PC.

You want a Z-series mobo for overclocking. They're more expensive, so you can also swap that i7 out for an i5 4690k

not with that motherboard - you will likely fry the VRMs on it. get a Z97 board for OCing

Yep, that one works. If you want more features, I'd recommend a deluxe mobo from Asus.

They're good quality, and have everything most people could possibly ask for. They typically have extra mostly-useless features, but mostly aren't gimmicky.

This one has a thunderbolt 2 PCIe card, built-in WiFi, M.2, and *maybe* NFC? Idk why it would have NFC, but it appears to. The NFC thingy also has Qi wireless charging, so the Galaxy S6 and Note 5 can take advantage of that, among other devices. It also has dual Ethernet and one of the best BIOS that motherboards have right now. It has every feature you'd need and then some.

 

It's pretty expensive though.

Jesus Christ, not the Deluxe, thats ASUS's TOP motherboard with associated price tag. The Gaming 5 you listed would be fine. or alternatively something like Asus's Z97-A, or MSI's Kriat

it is alot of money, but I'm really glad i did buy the Deluxe. alot of USBs for me and over features.

Yeah it was like 275$ i think at the time. it was alot of money but i just got a full time job and went alittle ham at the time :D

I'm happy that they went from gold to white and black with a little blue with the X99/Z170 boards, I think white and black builds are sexy af

That's pretty subjective, there are many people who build for overclocking & benchmarking, rather than just pure gaming :P
