Ever since I've built a custom rig, the passion to game on it has died down for me. My younger brother seems to only fully utilize the capabilities of the machine through gaming. Ex: GTA V. Me on the other hand, I now literally use it just for surfing the web and microsoft office. I have in the past thought of selling up but I don't have the time. Well he approached me with something, (I kind of want a new phone/BROKE) he is willing to swap his LG G4 for him keeping the rig in his room. Part of the agreement also includes me able to use the machine when needed, e.g. for work purposes. Majority of the time, I don't use the machine, I only go on it, if my phone is dead.

Hint: I am swapping from a iPhone 5S to a G4.

What do you think?

; Later on I am planning to get a laptop/utrabook.

I'm just kind of confused though, I do have a couple hours before decision making.

I just don't think we can help you with this decision. It's completely up to you. We don't know your relationship with your sibling, and we don't know how responsible your sibling is; we don't know how often you'd need to use the PC and how inconvenient it may be for you when your sibling is using it and you'd have to wait on them, etc etc.

Things to think about for yourself, so we can't necessarily say one way or another in this situation with honesty.

I'm in the same boat. Only without the brother thing. My PC is pretty much picking up dust and nothing more. I used to play a lot and now I'm down to 0.2 hours in 2 weeks. I'd just do that since you're planning to get a laptop anyway.

My Gaming Rig;  Motherboard - ASUS Maximus VI Hero | CPU - Intel i5 4670k @4.5Ghz 1.25v | GPU - GIGABYTE GTX 980 @Stock | RAM -  16GB Corsair Vengeance @1866Mhz | CPU Cooler - Corsair H100i | Storage #1 - Samsung 840 Basic 250GB SSD | Storage #2 - Sandisk II 480GB SSD | Storage #3 - 2TB 7200rpm 64mb HDDPSU - Corsair HX750 | Case - Fractal Design R4 |

Well I could set out some extra agreements. I know for a fact he will want to upgrade the parts later on, he isn't that tech savvy as me. My only gripe is that I do need to use it for the next coming months because of MS office, I might need to see how much I can get done on the mobile versions because I do have 365 and a bluetooth keyboard.

I was so hooked on it for the first couple months. Like I completed story mode for some games. I feel like I am more now interested in owning the latest parts rather than actually putting them to good use.

I was the same until I discovered simulators and lcpdfr/lspdfr for gta iv/v.

Maybe you just need to find a genre you enjoy?

I still don't play as much as I did when I was younger but I do still enjoy it a lot, I don't think a new phone is worth it IMHO.

Honestly with college work, I simply don't have time to even game anymore  :(. Something wrong with me when I prefer surfing forums, watching videos, shopping sites rather than spending the time to play a game.

Honestly, Just give it to him.

If he uses the gaming rig to its maximum potential, give it to him, otherwise that graphics card and motherboard would have gone to waste.

Take the G4, sell it, then collect the money.

Take the iPhone 5S, sell it, then collect the money.

With all the money, buy  yourself an iPhone 6s, since you are a college student, the 6s would be very handy to you.

And you do only use the gaming rig for MS Office and surfing the web , something any computer can do these days.

But a gaming rig is something marvellous, and it should be taken to its full potential. So give it to him.

You did say you just liked owning the parts. You built it and it still is 1/2 yours after you give it to your brother.

Whats the point of owning all of the high end parts if you're not going to use it like the manufacturer says to?

Thats just my opinion.

This is what I have been questioning myself a lot about. Giving him the rig would mean it is put to use at least. I am planning on getting the next iphone (7) or may stick with android outright because they do have keyboard and mouse functionality. I might chip money into the rig every now on and then in order for it to stay updated but he will probably be spending more on it than me since he will want the machine to be able to play the latest games and what not.

Well it depends on a lot of things. For example what games do you usually like? I know now I do not play that much but the season is going to get me back with games like Fallout 4 and Battlefront. I personally would keep it since you never know when you are going to want to go back. Also I would say the G4 is better, but the 5s is still a pretty good phone.
