I've noticed something odd. There are plenty of benchmarks built to test if your PC can run a specific game, but few are offered for free. A lot of the time I see you have to own the game to use the benchmark. Seems counter productive for the developer/publisher. Shouldn't they want us testing to see if we can run a game? I say this after I was debating getting Witcher 3 or GTA 5 only to see both don't offer a free benchmark. Add this to just how useless minimum and recommended requirements are and it's a bit frustrating. Needless to say I will be getting neither.

Is there any service that offers a way to benchmark for specific games? Asked Dr. Google and didn't find anything.

If anyone asks you never saw me.

Not that I know. And in-game benchmark utility is usually for reviewers more than to common gamers. Easier to run and gives more info and nicer graphs. The best you can do, is to google reviews with your GPU and/or CPU and check how games have run on reviewers machines.

That actually highlights one of my concerns. Reviews seem to be centered on hardware, not software. I really can't blame them since that will generate more views. But I already know where my GPU stacks up against the competition using synthetic benchmarks. I want to know before I buy if my PC can run a game comfortably. Even referencing a synthetic benchmark would help, rather than reference GPUs.
