I'm currently in such a bind on what to upgrade! I will list all my specs and YOU tell me.

 

CPU: i7 4770k 3.5 GHz (I think for ghz)

 

RAM: 16GB Kingston HyperX Fury

 

GPU: GTX 980 4GB

 

HDD: 1TB

 

PSU: ​Corsair CX750M

 

FAN: Asetek 510LC 120mm Liquid Cooling CPU Cooler x1

 

CASE: CYBERPOWERPC X-Saber

 

MOTHERBOARD: ASUS Z87-K ATX

 

HEADSET: Astro A50 White & Green

 

MONITORS: 3x Acer B286HK (4k display)

 

KEYBOARD: Corsair k70

first things first... buy a better psu

psu before anything else. Get the EVGA G2

750m is most likely cx series

Is my PSU really that bad for running all this? It's been holding up pretty well. What do you guys rekon? The EVGA G2, like you said?

the g2 is amazing, pretty much any seasonic as well

 

theres a sale i believe on the p2 from evga over on newegg (basically upgraded version of the g2)

My CX has held up fine, I wouldn't really stress about it.

Would it be to completely replace the HDD or just to run the OS?

use it for your os and programs and the main games you play

 

keep the hdd from media storage and the rest of yoru game library if you have a big one

You can reformat the HDD if needed and use it again, but at the LEAST grab that SSD (I'd always recommend 250 GB or larger). Also, I don't know how much you really wan't to spend on an upgrade, but with 4k monitors I'd look at a 980 ti (or fury x) instead (esp since the 980 seems to be extremely underwelming in DX12). You might be able to sell the 980 used for a decent price to make up most of the difference.

 

A single 980 isn't anywhere close to being capable of running 4k gaming realistically.

 

The real sweet spot for SSD is normally the 256-512 GB size range.

if you can afford it go for it

 

but i would recommend something like a 400 gb nvme drive from intel if price isnt really an object you can get a 1.2 tb but its over $1000.........
