Laptop Not Working, Please help

Well, it's running (or trying to run) XP, so you'd have to check if it'd be ready for Windows 7. Running XP is extremely dangerous at this point.

If it does not meet the requirements, welcome to the wonderful world of Linux, pick your distro, install it, go. It will be much smoother than any Windows for sure anyway.

How would i do that when i cant access anything? (i dont have windows disk)

You can do it via bootable pen drive. http://youtu.be/OJ5Teoiicy8

Here is the tutorial that I followed long ago. You would be needing another computer for making the pen drive bootable to carry out this method.

Download a Windows XP disk, burn to ISO onto a CD and boot off the CD.

Could you post any info about the laptop? Specs, or the model? The sticker looks like an early Atom, so I doubt that Windows 10 will run on it.

There should be a sticker on the bottom saying what model it is.

is this it?

Yup, that's it. And that tell us that this won't be running Windows 10. I was really suspicious when I read that it came out in 2010 and ran XP (!). At that point, Windows 7 was well established.

The hardware may meet the minimum requirements, but barely. With just a gig of RAM and that old Atom... I don't see this coping with Windows 7 or higher, and I doubt it'd have a very nice XP experience.

So my suggestion would be a lightweight Linux distro, anything that runs LXDE as a desktop enviroment. You'll get solid performance for typing and surfing with that. And since the OS on it seems to be screwed up anyway, you got nothing to lose.

Does your friend need data from it?

If not, you can just use unetbootin or UUI and create, for example, a bootable Lubuntu stick.

Do you have a guide for that? like ...putting Linux on a flashdrive...and how to install it or whatever? and will it install when i plug it into the laptop? even tho xp is on it?

Upon googling again when not tired out of my mind, it seems I can't find much about this model. However since it is a netbook with XP originally on it I still assume that it'd be a bit sluggish.

Please keep in mind that installing OSs can be a bit tricky. You shouldn't break anything in the process and if you want to change back, you have to find an XP .iso or something (though I have no clue how to install XP from a USB...), because you do have a product key.

However, I'm not that much of a tech head and I've only once had a Linux isntall give me a headache. You may encounter things like your webcam not working, but as I said before, you have a bricked system anyway and nothing to lose, or do you?

Alright, after the disclaimer to save my butt (:P) there's excellent guides; you can get Lubuntu (which feels similar to 'Classic' Windows and is easy on old systems) here:

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Lubuntu/GetLubuntu

and here's a guide:

http://lifehacker.com/5774997/getting-started-with-linux-how-to-install-linux-on-your-computer

On the Eee PC, you can enter the BIOS with F2 on start, just mash it as soon as you start your computer. Then you change the Boot order to get the USB drive first. You should NOT be using a USB3.0 drive.

Please be sure to try the live version first (just chose 'Try Lubuntu without installing') to see if things work fine, and if they do you can go ahead and install it.

If you think this all is a bit above your head, you can also check if a Linux Club near you, they'll be happy to help you! If you have a University or College nearby, you can check with the Science and Engineering departments; you're bound to find some Linux enthusiasts there.
