Windows 10 Clean Install

Go to solution Solved by GoodBytes,

So I upgraded to windows 10 on my surface pro II

And I liked it

I don't like it. Full of issues left and right. But it got massively better when I upgraded to the latest insider preview build, and use Intel website latest graphics drivers.

But my question is this, I've been reading that the Windows 10 upgrade is exactly that, an upgrade. Not a version of windows that I could go buy at wal-mart or target and use the disc to update the OS; but I need a windows 7/8 os to get it

So do i have to buy a 64 bit version of 7/8 in order to get win 10 64 bit or am i wrong, and i can go get it somewhere

You can buy Windows 10 in stores, if you want. It is also available System Builder OEM license at your favorite computer store.

The Windows 10 upgrade is a limited time offer. After July 29th, 2016. If you didn't upgrade your system yet, then you'll need to purchase the upgrade or buy the full version in stores. If you re-install your system from scratch after July 29th 2016, you should be still good, and not have to worry in getting Windows 10 activated, as Microsoft has registered that you upgraded previously, when you initially upgraded. So you can install Windows 10 directly, and it will activate.

So I upgraded to windows 10 on my surface pro II

Alot

To the point where i pretty much refuse to downgrade at this point. I'm just that type of person I guess.

Buy a Windows 10 key from /r/microsoftsoftwareswap for $30 and use Microsoft's download tool to create a bootable flash drive.

No you dont have to buy a new version.

The upgrade is tied into your motherboard. I.E if you change you mobo then you need to buy a new windows.

If you have signed into Windows 10 using your outlook account at any point it will have registered that copy of windows against that mobo.

If you log into https://account.microsoft.com you will see your PC listed there.

Alot like the jpg shows.

Just remember when you download the iso you download the correct version first of all. And second use rufus to create a bootable usb flash drive as the media tools WindBlows offers gives you a bootable MBR install whereby rufus gives you the option to create a MBR or GPT install. GPT is the preferred.
