Afternoon all from my little corner of Australia.

 

I have been watch the Tech Tips videos for a while and thought I would wonder over here and check out the forum.

 

First of all nice to meet you all.

 

I will avoid telling you my age, however needless to say I am old enough to remember playing around with the old BBC computer ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BBC_Micro ). Yes I really am on the older side.

 

It wasnt until I came across this site that I realized I spend way to much money on PC's.

 

My current Gaming PC http://pcpartpicker.com/user/JWMutant/saved/ZW3J7P and have to say will not be updating again until Intel stop with the incremental performance releases and give us something that really blows my mind.

The whole state of sockets and cpu's at the moment is more than a bad joke.

 

How many sockets have there been in the past 8 odd years offering what I consider to be very little in the way of performance increase to warrant getting a new board and cpu.

we just have to hope that zen will have promise, otherwise the best plan of action for AMD is to be bought by someone who has money to compete with intel

Yes fingers crossed there October release is on track. Will be interesting to see how they perform.

Welcome, there are a few of us older guys here, my jr high comp sci class had 300 baud teletype terminals. My older brother told me I was lucky cause he had to use punch cards.

Its funny, if us older people started naming PC's we used back in the early 80's most people these days would have to google what it was.
