Weird Ethernet connector

Hi Everyone

 

My school has really weird internet connectors for some reason and for the life of me I cant find them anywhere. Here is a quick sketch of one this holds two cables and the cables adapt to a RJ45 connector. http://puu.sh/kmZfo/3a4da119df.jpg. If somebody could identify them I would be very grateful.

Yeah probably but I just want to connect without using the shit wireless. And still weird that I cant find them on google or anywhere else.

Are you talking about M12 connectors?

I saw those but ther are copper pins in the middle not a fibre optic cable or anything

 

Do you have a photo of the actual connector only other one I can think of is an SFF type connector:

Nope they are two squares on top of eachother with pins in the middle

No its not optical it converts dirrectly to rj45 jack and then in the computer without any active converting

So it's on the wall, and you need an adapter cable so that you can make a connection between that and the RJ-45 socket on your PC's network card?

 

And you are certain it's not some sort of phone line connection type, used in wherever you live?

 

I would find it weird for any school to use non-standard connections.

Its on the wall and you need a cable with on one side the weird connector and on the other a RJ-45 connector. The RJ45 end goed into the PC/Laptop whatever. I do a lot with networking but I have never seen it before and it is not regional

I can't help you until I see a photo of the ports, I've done searches for several types of connectors (MTRJ, MOXA, DMX etc.) and none of them seem to match your diagram.

theres this connector called the gg45 it the same shape as an rj45 but the pins are split out like your diagram

What you saw was a BKS (HomeNET/BasicNET) connector.

 

They are used for "multimedia connections". Practically it can transport multiple streams, DATA, AUDIO, VIDEO, PHONE through a single cable. These cables work on like 2.x GHz, for comparison a standard CAT6 cable works on 200-300 MHz. This is not a standard connector, it is however under review to be used as one. We'll see if it caches on.
