So I'm looking to get a ducky keyboard soon, but I can't decide between the Mini and Shine 3 tkl

Looking at how I use my computer, I can't recall an instance in the last 6 months or so, where I actually used anything pass the Enter key on my gaming setup.

Even for typing numbers, unless I am doing programming or my checkbook I typically just use the numpad, And that's the it, and I am totally happy with buying a separate numerical pad for my setup, so I can get it out of the way when I don't need it.

My question to you guys is based on your own personal experiences, which one would you recommend? I feel like the Mini is all I need, while the TKL is just a nice to have.

I vote for the mini, most of those function keys to the right of the main keyboard are useless (for me)/imo.

I love my mini shine

I'd get the TKL, you never know when you'll need it. It doesn't take up or reduce much space compared to a mini.

It's actually a surprising amount of extra space, plus the mini looks nicer :P

For me, the deciding factor for choosing a TKL or a 60% keyboard are the arrow keys. Apparently, I use the arrow keys on a daily basis so that's why I chose my Quickfire Stealth over a Ducky Mini, Pok3r, or any other 60% keyboard. I probably could have gotten used to the arrow keys through the function layer but I really like the form factor of ten keyless keyboards too.

You definitely get used to using the arrow keys through the function layer on the Ducky Mini. Everytime I use arrow keys on a keyboard that isn't my Ducky Shine Mini I sit their confused as to why it's not working....only to realize, OKL; are not arrow keys

Another alternative for the OP would be a 75% board. They're almost as small as a 60% (They're one key space wider and one taller) but they retain all of the Function row, and the arrow keys, as well (generally) as the home/page up, etc. keys, albeit in a different layout for that last group. The only issue with them is that keysets can be hard to come by, if they're non-standard layouts.

I personally got a 60% board, and I'm thinking about going for a 40% next, for fun. the 75% is something to consider if you want something as close as possible to the size of a 60% but you're worried about missing keys.

Hey! New SIgnature!

I'm supposedly a person on the Internet, but you'll never know if I'm human or not ;)
