Hypothetically...

Go to solution Solved by scottyseng,

 Well i'm asking if i can keep the raid0 on my ssd's, but have an hdd all by its self so that it can be there with a computer backup should i need it

Yes, you can.

The only thing that's "bad" about RAID 0 is the fact there isn't any redundancy, so if one of the drives dies you lose everything. Some RAID controllers also do not offer TRIM support for SSDs, so the performance of the SSDs will degrade over time. But yes you can just copy off all of the files from the RAID onto another storage device, and reconfigure things so the SSDs are no longer in a RAID 0 setup.

Wife's build: Amethyst - Ryzen 9 3900X, 32GB G.Skill Ripjaws V DDR4-3200, ASUS Prime X570-P, EVGA RTX 3080 FTW3 12GB, Corsair Obsidian 750D, Corsair RM1000 (yellow label)

My build: Mira - Ryzen 7 3700X, 32GB EVGA DDR4-3200, ASUS Prime X470-PRO, EVGA RTX 3070 XC3, beQuiet Dark Base 900, EVGA 1000 G6

so hypothetically,

 if one were to have two Intel 730 SSD's and hypothetically set them up into raid0, without researching what raid0 is;

after hypothetically figuring out how bad it potentially is, could one hypothetically use a hdd to backup all the files

Hey there GSTARR,

You can set up a continuous or scheduled backup of part or all files, including the OS from the boot partition/drive/raid to a target drive (in your case, the HDD). You can use the built-in function of the OS as well as another software. You can check out WD SmartWare: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=qTmZID

If this helped you, like and choose it as best answer - you might help someone else with the same issue. ^_^
