Is it possible to have two normal PC PSUs run in a way that if one fails the other would kick in and back it up? or if not would it be possible to get a server redundant psu and use it in my normal PC?

follow your topics.

it is possible to run two PSUs in one rig, however, it is not possible to have two 24pin power cables go into the MB, so in the event that the PSU actually dies, the computer will shut off.

unless you mean that you want a powered backup incase the power blacks out, in which case, you want to plug the computer into a UPS.

We can't Benchmark like we used to, but we have our ways. One trick is to shove more GPUs in your computer. Like the time I needed to NV-Link, because I needed a higher HeavenBench score, so I did an SLI, which is what they called NV-Link back in the day. So, I decided to put two GPUs in my computer, which was the style at the time. Now, to add another GPU to your computer, costs a new PSU. Now in those days PSUs said OCZ on them, "Gimme 750W OCZs for an SLI" you'd say. Now where were we? Oh yeah, the important thing was that I had two GPUs in my rig, which was the style at the time! They didn't have RGB PSUs at the time, because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big green ones.

You CAN put 2 PSUs in a PC.

BUT you CANNOT put 2 PSUs to help each other, I mean to be used as backup if one died.

Because Motherboard doesn't have 2x 24pin Power Connector.

Use UPS instead.

i know that you can have 2 (or more) PSUs powering all the different components in your PC independently... what i was wondering if there was some sort of adapter or device that would allow one to back up the other in case of failure.

that athena server redundant PSU would work... i think...

You need to use adapter in order to put 2 PSUs to your PC, but still when electricity goes off your PC will go off as well.

yes, i was looking into a battery back up as well

You can use UPS instead, when the power goes off it uses the UPS. It doesn't last forever but at least it gives you time to save your work and shut down properly.
