270X or the 950 will be with with his CPU in most games and will also be fine in the near future :P

GTX 750ti or R7 265. The CPU is a big bottleneck, the four cores will only help you so much.

id say don't bother...save your money and get a new pc soon

GTX 750Ti or a R9 270x

Hmm - I'd say R9 270X/GTX 950

I was thinking about a 750ti. The rig is only for casual gaming and some CAD. I use my MacBook for everything else

You know that guy that games on a MacBook? I'm that guy.

I will try to find a secondhand GTX 950. I hope my motherboard is compatible. Does the 950 work with PCIE gen 2?

What CAD software, some prefer AMD/Nvidia over the other? Your probably better off getting a 265 or 270 as they're about the same price and both perform better than a 750ti.

It's fine - look for a 270 or 270x - those are cheaper even 2nd hand and the 270 can be OCed to match a 270X

The 950 has JUST came out. I don't think you'll find a second hand option.

My Q6600 @ 3.0Ghz would limit my 260x in various games with less than 100% usage. Still was VERY playable on many titles (not sub30)

Various games being OLD and NEW.

Sniper elite 3 was the best performing, ample FPS for gameplay, still GPU usage would VARY a lot.

Don't expect miracles, but it can still play many games, just not that well obviously.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

EDIT: Sorry, I forgot to include that I'm playing at 1050p (1680x1050) :)

cpu bottlenecks start to show "only" at the high end cards friend

and you have a 4 cores cpu (is old, but is cool)

a R9 270X will run perfect there

and you can also go for a R9 380 (nitro 4GB) / R9 280 (3GB), you will lose like 10 fps +/-

but... who cares lol

^always forgets that there are other side effects of using a slow CPU.

We are talking about a Q6600 here.

so... your answer is "yes" is it ?  ^_^

It is only 65nm. Its the 45nm Core 2's along with the Phenom II that outclass AMD's newer CPU in gaming.

HD 7950 (oh yes, for me at least, 28 Compute Cores + DX12 + 3GB vram)

GF 7950 (nah, is DX9) <_<

It's a Radeon HD 7950.

It hasn't been used for mining, just gaming. It's a friend of mine selling it. He told me if it doesn't work, he'll give me my money back

You know that guy that games on a MacBook? I'm that guy.
