Using an Xbox One Controller on PC

I've been planning on getting an Xbox One controller to play certain games on my computer, however, im not too sure how to connect it.

If its the play and charge controller bundle, do i just use that usb cable and plug it into my pc? Or if its just the wireless controller alone, is there a specific micro usb cable i have to get, or could i use any, like the one that came with my LG G4?

I just use a wired xbox one controller, useful for rpg games like witcher 3 or other games like rocket league, always handy to have one anyway

Has anyone had any problems using their Xbox One controller on their PC?  I just bought one last night and it isn't working properly in game.  It'll work fine through the menus, but a few seconds after I enter the game, the controller will stop working and the character will start walking in a circle.  I can unplug it, and plug it back in, and it will work for a few seconds before it starts acting funky again.  I'm running Windows 7 Pro and have installed the official drivers for the controller.
