Last AMD card i used were MSI R5870 Lightning , i had so many issue with it i got disgusted of AMD.

Hope it's better now because i was tired of switching drivers randomly due to poor support.

In the other hand at the same time, i had a HD5850 Vapor X Toxic and never had an issue with it.

I think you got unlucky - 5870 was the top card in 2009 and parts of 2010. It happens though. A friend had an abysmal 650 Ti Boost.

from 14.5 to 15.8 I've used a lot of drivers and I've never had stability issues.

I had 2 , both had issues.

both arrived with bad gpu / rad contact due to msi bad finition (on 450€ (500$) cards...)

i sold one due to noise and temp issue in crossfire ( was still way better than Nvidia GTX400 at this time)

With both in CF it was profile and game support issue. ( from freez to crash and bsod)

With one card

The major issue was random support of overcloking.

I had bsod when updating drivers if i don't remove oc before updating.

Or random performance win / loss when changing drivers version.

I won't say AMD is bad , imo in term of price / performance most AMD card are in good place.

But i really hope they worked on that aspect because i got really frustrated at this time.

I wish i could oc my body, during winter overheating would be great.

I think your issue was MSI more than AMD :D

IIRC Sapphire and XFX at the time were the best of the best. MSI - not so much

Well - your choice. Currently Sapphire, MSI, XFX and Powercolor are all good AMD brands to go with for the 300 series. Gigabyte has a lot of issue and Asus has went down the drain

I liked the sapphire HD5850 Vapor X toxic.

I have it in a box somewhere , because it's still working , with really good temps and make no noise or almost.

I keep switching from Nvidia to AMD anyway , for now i will stay on Nvidia side , it works fine for my use and demand.
