Hello, how are you?

I am wondering...

If space is not a problem, is there any reason to go for an ITX build instead of a ATX build?

I am thinking about an ITX build on a Silverstone RVZ01 mainly due to styling, as ITX cases can be very different from the regular ATX layout.

Even so, if given the space, would you still go for ITX instead of ATX?

Cheers!

I'd go for atx because I like big pc's. It's completely personal :)

None, the only benefit is the size savings. If you like the RV01 then go for ITX, just know that it wont have as good air flow in the case and the build will be a little harder.

Go mATX and split the difference. ;)

What others have said - airflow and cabling are your biggest worries with the smalller builds.

I personally only build mATX anymore because I hate wasted hardware, and I don't need more than 1 GPU. Also I don't like seeing all the empty space over the spare pcie slots.

Might try itx for wife's next build, but all depends on the case.

I ask because I am on the fence...

Motherboard prices are pretty much the same on a good z170 ITX board vs a good but not top of the line ATX board.

I just use one video card. When one is not enough, I prefer to sell it and go for the next top one instead of adding a second one.

I don't need sound cards because I use external dac and amp.

So I am thinking ITX.

The only issues is that it will be harder to use cards like the fury X and AIO for the cpu. To do that it would require an ITX are that would be very similar to a standard ATX case.

I guess I can manage with a small cooler like a Raijintek Pallas with a 6700k...

Cheers!

As long as all of the other factors I look for are accounted for (air flow, heat build up and adequate cable management) then I really prefer more space efficient cases. That's not to say I don't like big cases. My previous build was in an Enthoo Primo - but being smaller than a 900D and being able to fit 2x480mm radiators while still keeping one drive cage and 2 5.25" bays populated, 2x 290X lightning editions and a tube reservoir.

If I were to build another PC though, purely for gaming, I'd definitely go with an mATX build - I think for a gamer they tick all the boxes while still offering enough upgrade paths for long term upgrades like 2-way SLI/Crossfire.

ITX all the way! After switching I can't seem to find a reason why I'd want to go back to a big case.

Just remember, if you ever want to install any additional add-in cards internally or get a 2nd video card for SLI/Crossfire, then ITX will limit you there.  That's the only good reason I could think of to go ATX over ITX.  If it's a PC you expect to get several years out of, I would honestly say ATX just because you never know what you want to do with your PC in the future where an external USB device doesn't make sense for whatever reason.

Matx has been mentioned a couple of times.

Are there any good cases besides the corsair air 240 that has a dual chamber design and the board can be horizontal? All other matx cases are just smaller regular pc tower cases...

The Core X series from Thermaltake has exactly that xD (X1 for MITX, X2 for MATX, X9 for everything)

I went for mAtx because of this, space wasn't an issue but I didnt want to bother with something big but at the same time I didnt want to sacrifice potential SLI or Crossfire so the obvious choice was mAtx.
