I am planning on building a pc with i5 4460. Is it better to use the stock cooler (if the processor comes with one) or a cheap aftermarket cooler. Thanks.

If you don't care about noise there is literally no point in getting an aftermarket cooler for a locked i5.

If you're not really picky about noise just stick with the stock cooler you shouldn't have temperature issues

It comes with stock cooler. And if you aren't picky about noise, its fine for your use. I've tested said combination with Cinebench and 3Dmark. Noise was decent and temps didn't go that high that they would be problem.

These two. Unless you're SUPER picky w/ a locked CPU... OEM cooler is good :)

Enjoy
