At what point during the process can I remove my USB?

Just a guy who peaked at building back in the days of the GTX 980. If you see me here, assume i have technical knowledge akin to a committed hobbyist builder back then. If something's changed, you'll need to tell me(nicely plz). I'm probably asking for help with the modern build scene since I have no clue what's going on.

 eGPU Setup: Macbook Pro 13" 16GB DDR3 RAM, 512GB SSD, i5 3210M, GTX 980 eGPU

New PC: i7-4790k, Corsair H100iGTX, ASrock Fatal1ty Z97 Killer, 24GB Ram, 850 EVO 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD, GTX 1080 Fractal Design R4, EVGA Supernova G2 650W

Pretty much this.

Or if you want to remove it slightly earlier, during the "welcoming" part, where you choose the privacy settings, wifi password, enter a username/connect to a Windows account, etc...

You should be able to remove the install media after the first restart (for Windows 7 and up).

 

More specifically the install media is no longer needed once you get to the screen where you set up the PC name and User.

It will tell you to remove the USB, and restart.
