So im building just a cheap media pc for mostly movies and some messing around on

I can get the 750ti for about 120 and the 950 ssc for 170... is it worth the 50 bucks to just to the 950? Whole build will be roughtly 500 when done.

It probably won't need a dedicated graphics card if it's just going to be used for watching media and messing around some.

 

Or else, something like a GTX 750 (since it's (probably) cheaper) should be more than suffice.

For a cheap media PC, I would suggest an APU based build. 

If you are doing a little bit of mild gaming, I would suggest the 750 Ti. You can also find a cheaper 950. It should be noted that lower quality settings on games won't be as noticeable on the big screen.

Then get the 750ti, it's definitely not worth the extra 50 bucks / over 40% imcrease in price for the 950. Or, you might even be able to find a cheaper or same price but better second hand video card, if you'd like.

7850K - has an R7 250 built into it and is a quad core - battlefield hates dual cores ._.

your choice - but you'd be paying more for less. Pentium + 750 Ti is more expensive than 7850K

you'd have to look it up - but the 7850K is enough for light games and perfect for a HTPC.

Take a look at this - the 7870K is an OCed 7850K - same chip - like Haswell i5s

No, the 750 Ti is better than the 7850K. 

What would you need the extra horsepower for? The G3258 has integrated graphics that is already more than enough for watching movies.

you could go with 1866 MHz ram to shave off cash but overall it seems good. Reminds me of my first VCR
