So, i've been using the same set of Logitech 5.1 speakers since 2008. I've had them paired with an Asus Xonar D2X soundcard for maybe 2 years now, and have had no problems generally.

However, more recently, i've noticed the sound coming from the speakers to be 'oscillating'. It almost sounds as if someone is turning the volume knob up and down very quickly.

I've tried reinstalling my drivers, checked all the connections, played with different software settings, etc. But I can't seem to figure out what the cause is.

There have actually been times in the past where this has happened before and stopped again randomly on its own, making it even more confusing for me.

Does anyone have any experience with this, and perhaps recognize what is happening?

Thanks~ :3

OP

That sounds a lot like AC leak(passthrough, whatever). Make sure your PC and speakers are properly grounded, but if they are then it could be an early indication of a power supply going out(either the one in your PC or in the speakers). Also make sure none of your audio cables are laying on or next to a power cable, you can get the same kind of interference this way.

Ahh, that would definitely explain it. Having 5.1 speakers does create a bit of wire clutter that I can't really avoid, but the interference seems to have disappeared again anyway.

I shall keep this in mind the next time it pops up. Thank you! <3
