Windows Update Searching Forever

Burusutazu
Go to solution Solved by Arty,

Fresh Installs always take  a shit ton of time to get all the shit ton of updates.

how long have you waited?

Whenever I try to update my fresh install of Windows 7 it just sits there forever and never shows any available updates.

I have tried...

  • sfc /scannow
  • Microsoft Fit It Tool
  • Reinstalling again
  • Updating the Windows Update Agent
  • Disabling the firewall
  • Running the other Microsoft Repair Tool (Cant remember the name off the top of my head.)

I don't get a ping response from windowsupdate.microsoft.com, but I do from download.windowsupdate.com...

Anyone know anything else I could do?

I had this really annoying issue... after I installed a non-legitimate copy of Windows 7. I fixed it by reinstalling a fresh copy.

It does when most pre-activated windows versions are tampered with. The specific copy had this exact isssue. Turned out to be a corrupted update manager that was unfixable. r00tkits

if you torrent a preactivated copy thats your problem in the first place.

Offical iso + with a trusted cracker it works well.

The search after SP1 tends to take forever indeed.  I've seen it take more than an hour on a fairly potent PC.  And that's on a legit and activated install from the official DVD.

He didn't state whether he has a legitimate copy or not, so I added that from past experience. No one should ever download a pre-activated copy ever lol.

I use my own kms activator, but Windows 10 keys can be shared... ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

An hour? I guess i'll leave it to search overnight then.

My copy is legitimate.

Then don't update windows?

Not an option, having SP1 is beyond a state of use that is acceptable for me.

The max I have waited is 45mins. I had no clue it could take longer then that. Past experience was always under 5 mins.
