G4 All the way

 

Removable back, battery, and sd card, bigger screen (if you like that), better mic + cameras, etc

Intel i5-6600k (Cooled by a 212 evo) - Asus Z170-A - Asus Dual OC GTX 1060 - NZXT S340 - WD 1TB (Getting SSD this month, hopefully) - 8GB DDR4-2400

should i get the LG G4 or Samsung s6? upgrading from a s5

I'd say G4, but the phones are very neck and neck.  LG offers a closer to stock Android experience, while Samsung offers, well, you know.

does it have a finger print scanner? also the s6 because the edge+ has no lifeproof/ottorbox cases  

Do you really need a case that beefy?  Like I never understood why people put cases that big on their phones.  Makes them uncomfortably large IMO

No, I never really even use finger print scanners anyway

Because a lot of people are clumsy and phones nowadays are built to break.

No, but LG G4 does have a ZeroLemon extended battery that comes with a rugged case for the same price as an otterbox

 

Personal experience with Note 3 ZeroLemon - case feels kinda shoddy. Some of the clips have broken after 10-20 drops, but enough remain intact to secure the case. Once the rubberized sleeve is added, it acts as a shock absorber. I've dropped my Note from 20' up onto cement, and it's still rocking. Broke one clip with that drop, but again, everything works. The rubberized portion of the case is also very stiff. Hope this applies to the G4 model as well.

I wouldn't say that.  I think phones are quite durable.  I never use cases, and I'm really clumsy, yet I've never cracked a screen or broken any device.

A light tap on my desk cracked my M8, and it cracked through the tempered glass screen protector.

 

And some phones are durable, but no phone today is as durable as any phone that came before smartphones were a thing. It's the most typical device to point out, but the Nokia 3310 was an absolute tank that has no match today for durability unless you count the CAT Phone, which actually was made to last.

 

And anyways, why would a manufacturer build a strong phone that will last for many years if they can get people to spend $200-$900 a year on a new one? The S6 Active is a good phone, and it's fairly durable, but it's not all that strong.
