Hey guys i'm currently making a rig for my friend for his birthday. He's a gamer and i want to give him my old computer which has the following specs:

Core 2 Quad Q6700

GT 610

6 gb ram

550w PSU

 

My question is should i replace the GT 610 by a GTX 660 (i can have one brand new for 20 bucks) and use that 610 as a dedicated card for things like physx

also what games would it run (i want to get him gta 5)

and toss the 610 straight in the garbage. it won't run any modern games in a way I would consider acceptable.

Get the 660, great card and even better for $20. I would just hold on to the 610 as a spare though, no real reason to use it. Your machine will be able to play GTA V, but I would add more RAM(I have a lower end GPU and it can handle normal settings, with the textures on high, and I have the draw distance/population variety/ and the other setting set to 75% and get 40+ FPS).

i back that its pretty terrible.

 

but its a good "testing card" to keep around.

Get him a 660 - he's not going to be playing Tetris at 800x600 res . . . .

No, it's not even worth it as a paperweight, that thing is terrible.

610 is good for one thing - spare parts :D
