Laptop for school

After hours of researching and looking at reviews, I can't decide what laptop is best for me So I came here to ask for some ideas and opinion. I really need a laptop for school, but I want it to be less than an inch thick. I really like the zenbook or the dell xps13, however I need something to perform light CAD work, sketchup and revit work.
I'm looking for something that's:

Budget: 1000
Size: 15 inches preferably
Preferably under 1 inch, I don't want a giant desktop replacement
battery life doesn't affect my decision much
Not much games, if anything maybe just league of legends (most likely nothing though)
Need for CAD work, sketchup, renders (I don't need it as a main work station, just when I'm out and showing work or doing work at school)
Harddrive preferably 500gb or more, a bit of SSD hopefully
Looking to keep the laptop as long as possible
Just a DVD/ CD reader for optical drive (SD CARD READER IS PREFERRED)
Live in CANADA, VANCOUVER

Please keep in mind that I live in Vancouver, I always see laptops in the states amazon for a lot cheaper but getting it shipped here just means I have to pay duty and taxes...
