Hi Everyone,

- i7 6700K
- Asus ROG MAXIMUS VIII HERO
- Kingston HyperX FURY 16GB Kit (8Gx2) DDR4 2666

- WD 3.5" Black 2TB SATA3 7200rpm HDD

I'm currently running this build, and I run into some confusion, hoping someone could explain it to me.

I'm running my CPU at stock speed and on BIOS screen it show Target DRAM Frequency is 2667mhz. But on the right hand side Hardware monitor section it's showing Memory Frequency only 800mhz.

I check with CPUZ, it show DRAM Frequency 401.5mhz, FSB 1:6. But on SPD section it show each running at 1333mhz.

So I'm not sure if it's because not compatible with MOBO or CPU, or I got the setting wrong, thanks.

PS: On my other build:

- Xeon E3 1241v3

- Kingston DDR3 1333mhz 16G CL9

- Asus H97 Pro

- Seagate ST2000DM001

Compare both unzip a large file, Xeon rig only takes 2min, i7 6700 rig takes 5min.

Intel has a very weak IMC. If you Google "Intel weak IMC" you'll catch my drift. I would love to fill this text box with magic words, but this has been a common and very ongoing issue that Intel is fully aware about. You're not the first and not the last. I went through 3 5820k's before i was satisfied with memory efficiency

So will overclocking the CPU helps? I haven't got time to do much test on it, but from from unrar and install speed etc, it feels weaker than my other Xeon 1241 build. Also always a spike lag for like 1-2 sec before action or program executed.
