Hey guys,

I got a new laptop for my brother on his birthday, specifically the Lenovo IdeaPad Y50-70 Black (link: https://www.alza.sk/lenovo-ideapad-y50-70-black-d2418199.htm sorry, the website is in Slovak language). It came with no OS so I went ahead and tried installing Windows.

To the problem.

The website claims that the laptop comes with hybrid storage: 1TB HDD and 8GB SSD (screen: http://i.imgur.com/MqD9HXA.png ), so I figured the SSD partition should be used for installing the operating system, right? The problem is that the installation setup only showed me the HDD partition as an option.. so I did that. The SSD does not show up in My Computer either (screen: http://i.imgur.com/aasajwc.jpg ). Then I tried downloading Speccy and checking if it shows up there and it kinda did, I'm really not sure (screen: http://imgur.com/fiXvKyy.jpg ).

Can someone please explain to me what is going on? Is the storage managed automatically by the system? Did I do something wrong?

Any help is appreciated.

Pls pardon the screenshot quality and my lack of understanding of the topic.

Thanks in advance.

Such signature. Wow.

It's a SSHD (the SSD is only used as a cache. It's not accessibly in anyway.)

On an aside what crap hole sold you a computer from a tier 1 manufacturer without an OS?

SSHD use SSD technology for cache nothing else, so its not accessible.

I think they offer one that way, note that I just looked it up and not fully research.

Well that's just ridiculous.
