Windows 7 updates breaking windows

I have a new laptop which naturally has many windows updates to be done. Twice now i have had windows fail to boot after it has installed some updates. A simple system restore fixed the laptop in both cases. why do you think this could be happening? (laptop always on charge.)

Don't suppose it says reverting changes when it fails to boot?

it just gets stuck on the windows logo. after force rebooting it recommends system recovery and then suggests using a system restore point

Can you post a list of the updates it wants you to install?

try limiting how many updates are getting installed at once. ive had a similar issue when trying to get over 150 at one time.

Its a hdd

there are 101 important updates. most of them security ones. for some reason it has only selected 97 of them

when trying to install them with the laptop on, it is stuck at 0%

 

EDIT: the same is happening when only trying it to one update

Had a similar issue recently. Just don't do them all at once. Do like 10 or 15 at a time and it'll probably be fine.

thats because some of them worked and some didn't had to less to do and then wasn't overwhelmed.
