My friend asked me to spec out a gaming build for $2000.

He wants to play games at max settings with ~60 fps and some occasional video editing.

He also needs a monitor, keyboard, mouse and os.

This is what I was thinking so far:

If he's video editing, you might want to bump up to an i7. Does he want a mecha keyboard? If not, that can help give more money for the rest of the build.

here's a monitor I'd reccommend: http://www.amazon.co.uk/BenQ-GL2460-Widescreen-Monitor-1920x1080/dp/B00AQBWMTK/ref=sr_1_5?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1374181280&sr=1-5&keywords=1080p+monitor

Feel free to message me if you want to chat!

you can get up to a $1600 of a rig, then you can get around $300-400 for the peripherals
mouse- deathadder 2013 or M65 (around 60)
keyboard- Ducky Shine III -around $150
monitor-http://www.amazon.com/PB238Q-23-Inch-Screen-LED-lit-Monitor/dp/B00906GBBC/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1376271570&sr=1-1&keywords=PB238Q

This would be my version http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1qVNa

The power supply may seem like an odd choice, but the bitfenix prodigy you don't really want a power supply bigger than 140mm deep or routing the cables will get tricky.

Personally I would go for, 350D with Maximus vi gene and a 4770k, making sure that the editing programs hes uses takes advantage of more threads. Also, noticed you didn't have a CPU cooler you may want to use a dual 120m AIO (ie. h220, h100i, water 3.0 extreme)

Here you go: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1qZdL

The 780 is overkill since a single 770/7970 already maxes out almost every game at 1080p. A 780 is better suited for 1440p or gaming across multiple displays. Trying to fit a 1440p monitor or 3 1080p displays would break the budget.
