I've done monitor overclocking before, it didn't break the monitor it just got to a point where it couldn't handle it and it would look like shit basically. I managed to get my monitor to around 66Hz before the image started to break up. It should be fine.

No. 

At most you'll have to reinstall the drivers, but it should revert after 15 or so seconds if you don't click anything.

I overclocked my one monitor to 100hz before it started going wacko. I put it back at 60 since it's only a forumn and youtube monitor.
