System Specs:

Mobo: MSI B75MA-P45

CPU: Intel Core i5-3470 @ 3.2 Ghz (stock)

CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i

GPU: 4GB XFX R9 380

Drives: 120 GB Samsung 850 EVO SSD, 1 TB Western Digital Blue HDD

RAM: 16GB of DDR3 RAM @ 1333 Mhz (stock speed, don't remember manufacturer, sorry)

PSU: EVGA SuperNova NEX 650g (650 watts, 80+ gold)
OS: Windows 10, 64 bit

So I recently got an XFX R9 380 to replace my old Zotac GTX 750. Prior to installation, I uninstalled all my NVIDIA software (drivers, GeForce Experience, all that) and rebooted my PC. I then shut it off, took out my 750, put in the new R9 380, plugged in the two 6 pin power connectors, and booted the system. However, there was no video output from the GPU. The onboard video was the only registered display driver, and it was the only video output. I downloaded the AMD auto detect software to try to install the drivers, perhaps that would get the card to register. But the software found no AMD hardware in my system, despite the obvious GPU. Can anyone help me out? I already tested the card in a friend's system and it worked perfectly fine, so I know the card isn't bad. I've been struggling for a few days now, and I could really use any advice. Thanks!

How did you uninstall your nvidia drivers?? Did you use DDU??

I went into the control panel and used that. Is there a better way to do it?

Did you plug in the video cable?

Yes, I used HDMI output, which worked just fine on my 750. Forgot to mention that

That's the problem. When you just uninstall from the control panel, some bits of the drivers are still in. The best way to uninstall GPU drivers is using DDU (display driver uninstaller) that restarts your pc into save mode and removes all traces from the drivers. Then you can make your pc to shut down, take old gpu, put in new gpu (of course with the psu disconnected), turn of pc again, install new driver and voila, it's done.

What i recommend is to put your 750 again to try if it works install nvidia drivers again and do the process mentioned above. If you've had installed the amd drivers of your r9 380 do the same thing

Still no luck. Put my 750 back in, reinstalled NVIDIA drivers, rebooted into safe mode, launched DDU, selected the "Clean and Shutdown" option, waited for shut down, disconnected PSU, took out 750, put 380 in, connected power cables, connected video cable, and booted. Nothing. AMD software isn't detecting it either.

Uummm, after installing your 380 and plug in the pcie connecter from the psu, did you plug in your hdmi cable from the gpu to your monitor?? Or are you using your igpu when trying to install the amd driver (hdmi connected from the mobo)

Yes, I plugged the HDMI cable into the GPU from the monitor. However, since the monitor was saying "No input", I plugged a VGA cable into my mobo and into the monitor and switched to that input since the mobo doesn't have HDMI output. The HDMI cable is good though, I've tested it with other systems.

try plugging vga to the 380 to see if it works, probably that hdmi won't work unless drivers are installed (not 100% sure about, but give it a try)

Unfortunately, the card doesn't have VGA output. I just tried it with DVI, but nothing happened again. I'm borrowing a DVI to VGA adapter from a friend tomorrow and will report back after that.

So I've tried using the DVI to VGA adapter on the GPU with no success. I updated the BIOS to the latest version, thinking that might be causing some issues, but it didn't help at all. Any further suggestions? I'm fresh out of ideas as to what the problem could be.
