So i have a Dell inspiron 620 that i want to make into a halfway decent gaming computer.  I figured the best way to do this would be the upgrade the GPU.  So my question is, is this the best way to upgrade it?  If so what GPU should i get?  i have a tight budget of ~$130.

Thanks.

Assuming this is your computer, then a GPU is about all you'll be able to do. Drop in a 750 Ti

Probably the best chance in terms of fitting inside his case, but I think his cpu would be able to handle something a little more powerful without bottlenecking. Something along the lines of a 280x, or a 960.

PSU before GPU. Then Put an aftermarket cooler on the CPU, add better Ram, upgrade to an SSD, better fans, deck out the case with LED's make it look nice. I've been there done that. :)

Edit : You will also never be able to upgrade the CPU and use the same motherboard. Not only do you have probably an OEM copy of windows that would prohibit this, but now you also have a "Locked Dell BIOS" A locked dell bios does not allow for any CPU to be installed to the motherboard that the original system didn't have an option for. The coding for the Dell bios is very limited therefore it only has support for those CPU's that would have been an option for that system. Ex. My system is compatible with some Crappy i3 only an i5 650 only and an i7 8X0 only. I cannot put any other CPU even if it were to fit the socket on the motherboard because the BIOS would not support it.

But considering he has a tight budget of $130, and I'm assuming USD, the 750 Ti is his best bet, besides maybe an R7 260X
