I need to do some research for a science/engineering fair, but I can't think of great things to look at. What I'm doing for the fair is testing the traction of different tread patterns on tires, so the topic need to be relevant. The three I've already come up with are the following:

  1. What are the standard car tire patterns, and what are the pros and cons of each pattern?
  2. How are tire patterns different on other types of vehicles (eg. dirt bikes, motorcycles, and road bikes), and why?
  3. Why do different materials have different coefficients of friction?

So do you guys have any ideas, because I can't think of anything else good. Thanks,

how do different tire pattern perform on different surfaces (asphalt, ice, snow grass, gravel)
