With the prices dropping so low I'm considering picking up a second 7950 for CF @ $250 but this 7970 is within the same price margin. Is it worth the extra $50ish to go for a 7970 over 7950?

Also how is the new CF AMD fix driver?

And no "wait for 9xxx" talk, that's not what I'm asking.

I think you'll achieve better performance by buying and other 7950 but their driver is still on beta, I would wait to see the official one.

Okay, I'm not going to tell you to wait for 9xxx. I'm going to tell you to wait for the R9-D950. :P Come on, waiting two months for 20-45% improvement is a good plan. You could always get the 7950 now, sell it, and then get the R9-D950.

Anyway, there are cheaper 7950's out there. Get one for $180-220.

It's not about the waiting. I'm happy with my 7950 performance and only have $300ish to spend on a card, now or then. I'm not planning on buying a top tier 9 series card unless they start to drop at the end of their life cycle. I'm a vulture when it comes to computer parts, I don't need the BEST performance at TOP dollar, I have other hobbies for that. Also I am running 4870/5850 in my older LAN rigs (bought when they were top of the market) and they are starting to show their age, which is why I want good deal on 79xx, best bang for buck.

I understand. That's why I said get the cheapest 7950 you can find with an aftermarket cooler.

Get another 7950 and overclock them if haven't already done so. You'll easily achieve better performance than a stock 7970.
