Would USB3 be better for audio?

Would USB 3 provide less latency? I feel as if audio is such a small format that there's enough speed in usb 2.0 to make it as lag free as possible, but to be honest, I have no clue!

What I am really asking is if a USB3 external sound card would have less latency than a USB2 one.

I play guitar on my pc using an 1/8 jack to USB cord and I am wondering if a usb 3 sound card with an 1/8 jack would provide less latency.

Thank you!

I am experiencing latency with my set up. Why do you think this is?

Guitar Rig 5 and Rocksmith both have some latency and it drives me up the wall. I record with the sound muted so it doesn't throw me off.

Its not due to USB 2.0

Now im not sure why it is, as im not familier with this kind of set up.

If you mean monitoring latency, that is normal unless you are using a real audio interface or a microphone with a monitor jack.

I have no idea what you're talking about :( I'm an audio noob.

I am using a Rocksmith Realtone cable right now and lag is minimal but noticeable. I also have an XLR to USB microphone cable that is absolutely wretched, that thing lags and if you bump the cord at all it pops and disconnects.

It's likely the audio interface that's causing your latency (and not USB). If there is a way that you can adjust the buffer length, that may also reduce the latency (as it's FIFO).

PC audio is a huge source of frustration for me.. I have AISO4ALL and I use that as my audio driver (or whatever) and it seemed to help, but after installing windows 10 it doesn't work anymore, I can't listen to music while using Guitar Rig anymore so I take that as sign of it not working.

Do you have the option to run Wasapi in Exclusive mode?

The ASIO drivers for win 10 are not available which is why it's not working anymore. USB 2.0/3.0 has no effect on latency.
